Ford says its Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor calculates service timing from vehicle use, operating conditions and time. “Change Engine Oil Soon” appears near 5% remaining life.

15% warning Honda

Honda Maintenance Minder begins displaying “Maintenance Due Soon” at 15% oil life. If no alert appears within 12 months after reset, Honda specifies an annual oil change on the referenced models.

At least yearly Chevrolet

Chevrolet says to service soon after the “Change Engine Oil Soon” message and change the oil and filter at least once a year even when the monitor has not requested service.

Two schedules Nissan example

The referenced Nissan Titan schedule lists 7,500 miles/6 months for standard use and 5,000 miles/6 months for severe use.

Another example: Subaru states that most current Subaru vehicles should receive an oil change every 6,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. This does not make 6,000 miles universal for other brands or even every Subaru.
