The Arctic Cat 500 is one of the most loved Arctic Cat ATVs. Although the Arctic Cat 500 was discontinued in 2017, there are many of these ATVs still on the trails.

It is easy to change the oil in an Arctic Cat500.

  • To access the dipstick, remove the side cover.
  • Place the dipstick under the drain plug.
  • To remove the drain bolt, use a 19-millimeter socket. The engine oil will start to drain once you have unthreaded the drain bolt.
  • While the oil is draining, inspect the condition of your crush washer. To prevent future oil leakages, replace the crushed washer if it is damaged or missing.
  • After all, the oil has been drained, you can reinstall the drain bolt using your 19-millimeter socket. Turn the drain bolt until it is 21 feet in length.
  • To remove an old oil filter, use a 65-millimeter oil filter wrench.
  • Attach the oil filter to the socket and torque it to 12 feet.
  • To find the right amount of oil for your ATV, consult your owner’s manual. The dipstick port should be lubricated with the correct amount.
  • Install the dipstick again and turn on the engine. Allow the engine to idle for a while to allow the oil to circulate through the system.
  • Turn off the engine and allow the oil to settle in the crankcase for a few minutes.
  • The dipstick can be used to verify that the oil level is correct.
  • Install the side cover.
